My son attended Dayton Public Schools before I transferred him to Summit Academy Dayton Campus. The difference was amazing! My son deals with Asperger’s, ADHD, and OCD. Dayton Public had my son in Speech therapy with five other students. He was the only one who paid attention to the speech therapist who had a doctorate and did not care about the students or their progress.

After my son was transferred to Summit Academy it was a completely different atmosphere. The administration asked for permission for my son and another student of similar needs to share a speech therapy class. My son was not punished for acting in the way Asperger’s Cherenkov do. The administration, staff, and I developed an IEP together. If changes were needed we worked together to find what worked best for my son! My son was given schoolwork appropriate to his abilities and thrived! He enjoyed integers in Algebra. He thought they were fun and easy! He asked for extra work! He would NOT have received that opportunity at Dayton Public Schools! He earned his diploma! The teachers, staff, and administration never gave up on him! Summit Academy takes children the public schools give up on or never tried to teach and works with them! They have life skill classes that help the children develop a plan for their life after high school and even offer an extra transitional year of school to help them transition if needed! I was so happy with the school that after I married and moved an hour away, I drove an hour one way to take my son to school! That school saved my son! They care and invest themselves in the students!
