Each work day I see young men that dropped out of a traditional Ohio public school. These young men have been convicted of a felony and are incarcerated. The majority in my random sample are not high school grads.
Most of those I see were picked up by the charter school that is for the most part just a computer. Too many do not graduate from these schools and then end up in the criminal justice system. I always hope these charter schools are well meaning, however if they are for profit then there might be a conflict of interest. Either way. Ohio taxpayers and their families face this burden. Those leaving the revolving door are at higher risk of returning to prison.
